Who can use Starlight’s allergy program?
Allergy services are available to established Starlight primary-care patients. You do not need a Concierge or DPC membership. If you are new to Starlight, establish primary care first.
What allergies do you evaluate and treat?
Our treatment program focuses on seasonal, environmental, and animal allergies such as trees, grasses, weeds, mold, dust, cats, dogs, and other common environmental triggers.
Do you treat food allergies?
Food allergy testing may be considered in some situations, but Starlight’s immunotherapy treatment program is for environmental and seasonal allergies; we do not provide food-allergy immunotherapy treatment.
Do I need to stop antihistamines before testing?
Some antihistamines can interfere with skin-testing results. We provide individualized instructions before testing when a medication needs to be held.
Does allergy skin testing hurt?
Most patients describe brief pressure or small pokes. Positive areas may become temporarily itchy.
Can allergy care use insurance?
Some allergy-related office visits, testing, and treatment services may be billed to participating insurance when applicable. Coverage is plan-specific, and self-pay options are also available.
Can immunotherapy be given at home?
Appropriately selected patients may be able to self-administer after evaluation, education, supervised training, and emergency-preparedness instruction.
How long does immunotherapy take?
Allergen immunotherapy is a long-term treatment. The exact schedule and duration depend on the treatment plan and response.
